4 Great Ideas for Enhancing Your Space

One of the biggest benefits of having flex space in your new home is that you will always find new ways to use it. The best part is that it doesn’t have to be just one thing; it can evolve as your needs change. We have curated a few of our top ideas for getting the most out of your new home’s flex space:

1. The everyday bed

Day beds offer the convenience of a guest room without the commitment of traditional bedroom furniture, but there’s more to them than just that. In addition to offering extra sleeping space when guests arrive, day beds provide a comfortable place to read, study, or daydream every day of the week.

There are lots of styles to choose from, so look for one that fits your design and space. Many modern day beds also offer the benefit of convenient storage underneath to help keep clutter at bay.

2. Slumber party central

A slumber party doesn’t have to disrupt the entire house. Transform your flex space into a slumber party hideaway; the privacy will be a hit with the kids, and the peace and quiet will be a winner with Mom & Dad.

To create a great slumber party space, decorate with inexpensive hanging streamers and colored holiday lights. Have a streaming music service available so partiers can make their own playlist, and be sure to have a parent-approved fun movie or two. Of course you should also have a supply of drinks, finger foods and snacks available.

3. The home office craft room

These days a home office is almost a necessity, but even the most dedicated worker can’t use it all the time. Consider time sharing your flex space between your home office and a craft room. Start with a desk that offers a wider surface area that will have adequate workspace for both the worker and the crafter. The back of the door is a convenient out of the way spot for hanging a gift wrap station, and crafting supplies are easily stowed in a closet or tucked into decorative boxes on bookshelves when not in use.

4. The gamers paradise

Games are fun, but some enjoy them more than others. That’s when your flex space can become a great asset by transforming into a game room. Whether it is just a relaxing game to unwind at the end of a hard day or a marathon weekend gaming session with friends, use the space to keep the noise and excitement separated from the rest of the house. The kids can enjoy their games while Mom watches the evening news, and everyone is happy.
